Read stories about farmers who have embraced solar energy and transformed their operations.
After years of struggling with hay production on his grandfather's 24-acre farm in Longmont, Colorado, Bryon Kominek has transformed it into Jack's Solar Garden, integrating agriculture with solar energy. This project honors his grandfather's legacy while revitalizing the land, benefiting the local community, hosting research studies, and educating and inspiring near and far.
A fourth-generation cattleman, Will Harris' farm oversees vegetation management on approximately 3,000 acres of solar property in southwest Georgia, focusing on solar grazing and maintaining agricultural use under the solar panels. Will and his daughters are dedicated to fostering sustainable abundance in harmony with nature and promoting systemic change in land stewardship.
Paul Knowlton, operator of Knowlton Farms in Grafton, Massachusetts, is preserving his family’s 150-year farming tradition. In a collaborative solar project, the Knowltons have brought crops and cows back to the farm. The elevated solar panels and spaced rows allow for machinery, grazing, and crop science, enabling the family to return to full-time farming after a long hiatus.
